Washington Memorial

In MEMORY of the great 'Father of Our Country', a Monument began construction in 1848. Mounting the blocks in the air ceased in 1858 due to War and the lack of Funding. In 1876 construction resumed at 156 feet to the completion of 555 in 1885. With it sitting on a small hill, TODAY no construction building permit would be issued in the District of Columbia (D.C.) for a structure taller in 'elevation' than the WASHINGTON MONUMENT !

George Washington's First Inaugural Address on April 30th 1789 contained 1,428 words. After 4 long - hard - exhausting years, his Second Address on March 4th 1793 was said in only 135...
he was thinking 'OK, let's get back to work!'
